"Time and space died yesterday. We already live in the absolute, because we have created eternal, omnipresent speed."

WRITING
Recent Publications, Presentations, and Current Writing Projects
Presented the paper "Art, Activism, and Object oriented Ontology" at the third International Symposium on Communication, Digitalization, and Society, hosted by Istanbul Aydin University. Paper to be published July 2025.
Interests
Painting and Drawing History
I am especially interested in the history of linear perspective, the development of the camera and camera related technologies, and the interplay of the drawing process with such technologies. How do tech and the body interact to contain and release artistic energy?
Activism Participatory Art
Artists have always been at the center of debates around responsibility and morality as it relates to the human condition. In The Philosophical Disenfranchisement of Art, Arthur Danto describes how art was placed in a weak and neutral position early in Western history of philosophy and art, citing Book X of Plato's Republic in which art is defined as mimetic.

However, art is and has always been a powerful moral and ethical force in society. The disenfranchisement Danto describes comes from our fear of art's unique power in this area. I am curious about the effectiveness of various attempts by artists to impact society and write frequently on this topic.
Philosophy and Theory of Art
Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Niklas Luhmann, Graham Harman, Michel Foucault, Arthur Danto, Claire Bishop, Adrian Piper, Judith Butler, Friedrich Nietzsche and Jacques Ranciere have all been major and lasting influences, though my thinking is always changing and I don't agree with everything these thinkers have written. Their perspectives inform my current thinking.
